Introduction

When you first see the Stat-Xplore home page, you may be a bit overwhelmed. This guide will walk you through all the features of Stat-Xplore step-by-step so you can gain a more comprehensive understanding.

Below is an annotated screenshot that visually explains the home information page for a specific dataset (e.g. People on Universal Credit).

To better understand how to use and interact with the Stat-Xplore home page, please view the table below and follow the steps accordingly.

Datasets This list on the left called ‘Datasets’ shows all the available datasets that you have access to.
  • Double-click a dataset to start creating a new table.
  • Click once on a dataset to select it. Stat-Xplore will show more information about it in the area on the right, as well as a list of any saved tables for this dataset.
Description If you click once on your selected dataset from the ‘Datasets’ list on the left, you may see a section on the right that shows more information about the currently selected dataset.

Some of the information included involves:

  • Data fields available for break down
  • Any known issues
  • A short description of the chosen dataset
New Table To create your own new customised table:
  • Double click on your selected dataset from the ‘Datasets’ list on the left
  • Or click once on your selected dataset from the ‘Datasets’ list on the left, click once on your chosen table from the ‘Table’ list on the centre, and then finally click once on the ‘New Table’ button
Open TableTo view pre-existing tables that have been already created for you:
  • Click once on your selected dataset from the ‘Datasets’ list on the left, and then double click on your chosen table from the ‘Table’ list on the centre
  • Or click once on your selected dataset from the ‘Datasets’ list on the left, click once on your chosen table from the ‘Table’ list on the centre, and then finally click once on the ‘Open Table’ button
SearchUse this button on the top right of the page to search for any keywords across all the saved tables and datasets created.
