In Stat-Xplore, the function of the ‘Retrieve Data’ button is to run cross tabulations and display the values of the fields that you have put in.
In Table View, you can:
By default, whenever you change the fields in the table, you need to click the ‘Retrieve Data’ button to see the values. However, this can be quite redundant and time consuming.
To avoid the need to click the ‘Retrieve Data’ button constantly, you can select the ‘Automatically Retrieve Data’ button which is located within the subsection of the ‘Retrieve Data’ button highlighted in orange:
When this option is activated, Stat-Xplore will automatically performs the cross tabulation whenever you make any changes in your currently open table.
However, for performance reasons you may find it better to leave this option turned off, especially if you are working with large tables.
