This interactive visualisation shows statistics relating to the benefit, Personal Independence Payment. Data for the visualisation is drawn from our published Data Tables.

The data provided covers the period from the introduction of the benefit in April 2013 to July 2022. These statistics have been developed in accordance with the National Statistics Code of Practice and supporting Principles.

What is Personal Independence Payment
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) helps with some of the extra costs caused by long-term disability, ill-health or terminal ill-health. From 8th April 2013 DWP started to replace Disability Living Allowance for working age people with Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
