Dataset: Universal Credit Sanction Rates
Description
People on Universal Credit may receive deductions from their award as a result of a sanction. From these deductions it is possible to work out a sanction rate, that is the proportion of people on Universal Credit at a point in time that have a deduction taken from their award due to a sanction.
Classification
The sanction indicator for claimants can take the following values:
Yes - Claimants payment is being reduced due to a sanction
No - Claimants payment is not being reduced due to a sanction
Total number of categories: 2
Quality Statement
These statistics include those sanctions which subsequently go on to be overturned. They are counted up to and including the last month which a deduction is taken. Claimants whose sanction is overturned will be repaid any deduction.
