Field: Age of Youngest Child (bands and single year)

Description

Measures the age of the youngest child or young person under 20 declared as living in the household, whose details have been verified by DWP. Age is derived from the child's date of birth taken from the most recent declaration made. Age is recorded in completed years at the end of the relevant assessment period of the reporting month.

Classification

Applicable to: All Households

For children in Universal Credit households, the age of the youngest child is available as either single years of age, or as age bands. Single year of age is available for all ages between 0 and 19 inclusive. The age bands take the following values:

Quality Statement

In a very small proportion of cases, information on children in the household is missing or unknown for the duration of the assessment period in which the data is counted.
