Dataset: Claims made to Universal Credit
Description
The claims figure in this release is defined as the total number of claims made to Universal Credit, up to the count date.
If an individual goes on to make multiple claims, each claim will be included in the headline figure. Claims that did not proceed to the individual starting on Universal Credit are also included.
There are a number of reasons why they may not start; for example, the individual may not be eligible to claim Universal Credit.
Over a period of time it is possible for an individual to make several claims to Universal Credit. However, each claim will be included in the default measure for the total number of claims made to Universal Credit.
Statistical disclosure control has been applied with Stat-Xplore, which guards against the identification of an individual claimant.
Note: The breakdown for postcode district has been removed after an issue was identified. Investigations are currently ongoing and the breakdown will be restored in due course. The breakdown for postcode area is still available.
