Dataset: Personal Independence Payment (PIP): Child Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to PIP Reassessment Outcomes

Field: PIP Reassessment Outcome

Description

DLA to PIP reassessment outcome shows the outcome of the latest PIP clearance for each person who has registered a PIP claim that is classified as a DLA reassessment, where there is a matching DLA record. If the claimant has registered multiple reassessment claims the individual will only be counted once, and the outcome field shows the outcome of the most recent PIP clearance for that individual, up to and including the point at which a PIP claim is awarded. Any further claims will not be included (e.g. if an award is made, comes to an end, and then a further registration is made to start another claim).

If the outcome of the first clearance is required, this can be tabulated using the "First PIP Reassessment Outcome" field. Note that any data retrieved from Stat-Xplore prior to the release on 19 December 2023 contained outcome of the first clearance as "PIP Reassessment Outcome" since the statistics at that time included only the first claim.

The outcome shows the first DWP decision on the reassessment clearance (i.e. they reflect outcomes prior to any reconsideration, appeal action and award review).

Definition of Award Increased - the total monetary value of the PIP award is higher than the total monetary value of the DLA award.

Definition of Award Unchanged - the total monetary value of the PIP award is the same as the total monetary value of the DLA award.

Definition of Award Decreased - the total monetary value of the PIP is less than the total monetary value of the DLA award.

Definition of Disallowed post-referral to the assessment providers (AP) due to failing assessment - claims which have been disallowed following the assessment due to the claimant not scoring enough points at the assessment to be awarded the benefit.

Definition of Disallowed post-referral to the assessment providers (AP) due to failing to attend assessment appointment - claims which have been disallowed following the assessment due to the claimant failing to attend the assessment without good reason.

Definition of Disallowed pre-referral to the assessment providers (AP) due to non-return of Part 2 within the time limit - claims which have been disallowed due to non-return of the Part 2 form within the time limit.

Definition of Disallowed pre-referral to the assessment providers (AP) due to other reason - claims which have been disallowed due to failure of basic eligibility criteria.

Withdrawn by the claimant includes all claims that have been withdrawn by the claimant prior to a decision being made. This can take place at any point in the claimant journey following registration of a claim.
