Description
Type of individual by age category is based on their specific age category, as reported by the FRS respondent.
Classification
Applicable to: all individuals.
Categories:
Child: an individual under 16 or 16 to 19 years old and they are:
Working-age adult: an individual below State Pension age based upon their reported birth date and the timetable for the legislated increases in State Pension age and not a dependent child.
Pensioner: an individual above State Pension age based upon their reported birth date and the timetable for the legislated increases in State Pension age.
Total number of age categories: 3
Total number of type by age categories: 6
Quality Statement
For women born on or before 5th April 1950, State Pension age (SPa) was 60. From 6th April 2010, the SPa for women born on or after 6th April 1950 increased gradually between April 2010 and November 2018.
Other changes are planned and have been announced. From December 2018, the SPa for both men and women has increased to reach 66 by October 2020. The State Pension age for both men and women was 66 throughout the financial year 2023 to 2024. Further increases to bring the SPa to 67 are proposed to be phased in between 2026 and 2028.
